Luke Ross' practice has focused on complex commercial litigation as well as high-stakes government investigations. Prior to joining Elsberg Baker & Maruri, Luke clerked for the Honorable Raymond W. Gruender on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and worked as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell. Before law school, he also worked as a Senior Analyst at Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm focused on supporting testifying experts in complex commercial disputes.
Luke earned his J.D. at Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar as well as an Articles Editor of the Columbia Business Law Review.
Representative Matters
- Represented nearly 100 affiliated debtor cryptocurrency entities in multiple avoidance actions and in identifying and recovering assets for creditors.
- Defended leading auto manufacturer and its U.S. financing subsidiaries against the SEC in dispute alleging claims under Sections 10(b), 17(a)(2), and 20(a) of the Exchange Act related to the companies’ failure to disclose criminal activity in Rule 144A bond prospectuses, due diligence questionnaire responses, and subscription agreements. Case settled on a no admit/no deny basis after extensive discovery.
- Represented national and regional banks in federal and state investigations related to mortgage lending practices.
- Represented a national university in a federal investigation related to its admissions and financial aid policies.
