Dom Budetti earned his J.D. cum laude from New York University School of Law and his B.A. summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University, where he graduated with honors. Prior to joining Elsberg Baker & Maruri, Dom worked as an associate at Selendy Gay PLLC, where his practice focused on complex commercial disputes in both state and federal courts. He previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Cheryl L. Pollak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and to the Honorable Alvin K. Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Representative Matters

• Represented debtors in action challenging the legality of a liability management exercise under New York law.
• Represented commercial healthcare company in a lawsuit brought by Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. for tortious interference with contract and deceptive trade practices.
• Represented crypto investors in several class action lawsuits brought against crypto exchanges and issuers, asserting claims under state and federal securities and commodities laws before both the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
• Represented foreign representatives of several funds in liquidation asserting foreign avoidance, common law, and breach of contract claims, seeking to recover approximately $6 billion in redemption payments from hundreds of entities arising out of the Madoff scheme.
• Represented plaintiffs in a novel settlement of a nationwide class action lawsuit brought against one of the nation’s largest student loan servicers challenging its practices with respect to federal student loan borrowers on Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Assisted in securing unanimous affirmance of settlement approval on appeal in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
